Background: Age-related hormonal decline and metabolic dysfunction are common in middle-aged men and often associated with reduced sexual wellness and energy. Shilajit, a traditional rasayana, has been widely used in Ayurvedic medicine for its potential androgenic, adaptogenic, and rejuvenating properties.
Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of ShilAbsorb™ gummies on sexual wellness, hormonal balance, metabolic health, fatigue, and stress in healthy men aged 45-55 years.
Methods: In this 90-day randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, 66 participants were enrolled and randomized in a 1:1 ratio to receive either ShilAbsorb™ gummies (N=33) or placebo (N=33), with 63 completing the study. Assessments included serum testosterone levels, libido (LSS), metabolic syndrome severity (MetZ score), fatigue (FSS), stress (PSS-10), VO? max, anthropometry, safety labs, and compliance.
Results: There were no significant differences between ShilAbsorb™ gummies and placebo in body weight, BMI, or waist circumference over 90 days. Test intervention led to a 25.39% increase in total testosterone and a 9.51% increase in free testosterone levels, indicating its significant efficacy in enhancing and maintaining testosterone levels compared to the placebo. A 17.59% greater improvement in sexual response, including significant gains in orgasm scores, was observed in ShilAbsorb™ gummies. VO? max improved by 5.92%, while FSS and PSS scores showed 4.14% and 3.62% greater reductions, respectively, versus placebo. Both groups showed similar metabolic and anthropometric trends. No adverse events were reported; compliance exceeded 99%.
Conclusion: ShilAbsorb™ gummies may support hormonal balance, stress reduction, and energy metabolism through modulation of the HPA/HPG axes and mitochondrial function. The formulation was well-tolerated and suggests potential for broader physiological benefits, including immunity. Further research is needed to confirm long-term and population-wide benefits.
