Abstract: Background and objective: Chronic wounds are ones that haven't been treated in a timely and organised way to repair the body's structure and function. The point of this study was to find out how well topical sucralfate and mupirocin work together and how well mupirocin works by itself to treat chronic skin sores.
Materials and Methods: The Department of Pharmacology at Madha Medical College in Thandalam, Tamil Nadu, India, did this prospective, randomized, comparison study about drugs. From August 2017 to July 2018, the study was done. This study was mostly about people who had skin sores that wouldn't go away. The institutional ethics group gave its approval.
Results:When the treatment was over, the median ulcer area in the group that got both types of treatments had shrunk by a lot. The wound infection scores for both groups were much lower than they were at the start of the treatment, which lasted three weeks. Except for discharge, which went away totally from all the ulcers in the combined group, the groups had the same rates of pain, discharge, and redness.
Conclusions: The wound-healing properties of topical sucralfate boost the antibacterial benefits of mupirocin, which makes chronic skin ulcers better. It's important to see how well the mixed topical treatment works compared to other topical medicines and wound-healing methods.
